This Wisdom Shot is from Dr. Jim's upcoming new book, Jesus Under The Hood, which features Jesus as the head mechanic at his garage staffed by his disciples Peter, James and John.
“Death is not the end,” Jesus said, his voice steady. “It’s the beginning of a new chapter in our journey. People ask about heaven, hell, the afterlife — but these things are shaped by our beliefs. Our true essence is eternal. Life continues, and so does love.”
The disciples felt a calm peace wash over them as Jesus continued, “Saying goodbye doesn’t have to be painful. When you see life as eternal, it’s not a farewell; it’s a transition. As you live your life, remember to say goodbye each time you leave someone, even if it’s only for a short time. Say it with gratitude, with love, and with grace.”
He looked at each of them, eyes bright with wisdom. “Life is constantly changing, but love is constant. Let that be your guide.”
As the disciples left that evening, each carried with them a newfound sense of purpose and peace. They understood that their role was to listen, to love, and to be a steady presence for those facing the unknown. And they knew that when the time came, they too would face the journey with the same love, peace, and courage that Jesus had shared with them.
